Susan's Blackouts were a mystery
Until one killed her Son
We’re all affected by cardiovascular disease — heart disease, stroke and blood vessel disease. It’s by far the leading cause of death in Australia, accounting for around a third of all deaths. It kills one of us every 10 minutes.
The human suffering and the impact on our already stretched health budgets are enormous. For some of us — like Susan Jones — the impact is unimaginable.
Five years ago, Susan lost her son to a little-known heart condition. Susan and her daughter have since been diagnosed with the same condition. But with medical treatment made possible by past research, they’re alive and well today. Ongoing research will enable us to better treat — and possibly even prevent — the condition in Susan’s grandchildren.
